SUSSEX CAMP , Elimäki Finland d. 12 - 13 sep 09 .
I was pleased to be invited as trainer to the first Sussex Camp ever in Finland ,
organized by the South Finnish Spaniel Club and Mr. Hannu - Pekka Saukoinnen .
On our way , but dont walk on water !

I asked a very good friend , Svend Villumsen to go with me ,
though we needed a Judge for the un - officially Field - Trial at sunday
Buster enjoys the finnish hospitality
We arrived friday afternoon and got coffee & cakes.......
The saturday was based on lectures about dog's handling and training ,
and Svend and I supported each other following the program made from home .
The sunday was held as a real Field -Trial ,
where I should be " on " as the first , the show how to do .
Before start
There were invited shooters and living pheasants were set out in the area .
We were on , and after each dog , Svend gave an open critic .
We had two long days with lovely weather and not too much to eat...
I can assure all , that it was a special trip , and at the ferry sunday night
we bought a really big beef !!!

ESS Faxe , Geltmans Emperor was on again ,
taking 1st price & BEST DOG last time in Beginners Class with this critic ( only in Danish ) :
Hunden startes op i højskov med små risbunker .
Hunden bliver ført med små midler og går et meget kraftfuldt søg .
Efter ca 15 minutter kastes due , hunden går i skud , men flot apportering .
Efter apportering samme mønster som før .
En meget modig hund som bliver ført godt .

Spaniel Club Field Trial , Juellund .
Today Springer Faxe , Geltmans Emperor , went to a Field Trial again
with his new Co - owner Palle J . Apel .
They did great , starting out in Beginners Class , though Faxe hasn't been worked for over 3 years .
They took 1st Price , 2nd Winner with this critic ( sorry , only in danish ) :
1 Slip .
En rutineret jagtivrig stilfuld springer , med næsten naturligt anlagt søgsmønster og førerkontakt .
Dækker sit terræn perfekt , hunden er lydig og føres lydløst og rutineret .
Apportering : Perfekt .
2 Slip .
Det positive billede fra første slip forstærkes kun .
Der rejses fugl som prelles noget .
En ekvipage med en stor fremtid for sig .

I think it`s the first time ever a Sussex have done this .
At the FIELD TRIAL Top 10 Buster took placement 2 - again very well done ,
still between all Spaniel Breeds ,- and finally at RETRIEVING TRIALS TOP 10
Buster took the 3rd placement .
So great done , my beloved Buster .

My Buster did it , beated Sali who won the Danish CH - Ship
in Retrieving last Sunday - She got best in Track & Retrieving ,
but in the Retrieving Test Buster got the Pocal ,
a wild pigeon landed between him and the 2nd pigeon ,
he respected it and went straight on ,
no match possible there .

He really proved with style , thats he's a Working Dog , using his brain .
When the wind took the bird at the water , Buster changed direction ,
he just figured out WHERE he would meet the bird - I really cannot believe it !
When we after the match ended up as 2 Winner in this tuff company ,
I nearly cried of happiness .

did it today -
MAKING MAXIMUM POINTS
at SPK Retrieving Test under DJU rules .
The points was :
Blind Rabbit , 40 meters 10 p
Double marking & Retrieving pigeons , 60 meters 10 p
Retrieving bird on water , 30 meters 10 points .
Buster just worked easy and steady , but I admit , that sometimes alternative methods
of training Sussex is used - when the dog before us was on ,- I lifted my little Buster at 26 kg
up at my shoulder , so he better could look what happened -
but this time he marked the pigeons fantastic !
In the final competition Buster ended up as 2 Best All - Round dog
- also passing Obedience 1 without training at all .

Through this Hunting Season Pippi has tought Avelon how to be a real hunting dog .
He works fast and steady - nothing can distract him anymore from doing his job ,

Today Buster proved that he is much more than a pretty face -
he passed the official Field Trial in the Beginners Class with a 1st price .

As far as I am told , he´s the first Sussex Spaniel , who have passed this trial in Denmark ,
and at huntings this autumn he has done a very fine and steady job too .
Buster have showed me , that a Sussex really is a dog that can walk directly from a Field Trial
into the Show Ring , as Buster did at the latest Spaniel Club Show , taking BOB !!!!!!!
